Loved this! I had the later f4 and used it on my M3 with the Visoflex 2. These older lenses used at moderate stops and avoiding flare can deliver results that give their modern counterparts a run for their money - not on test charts perhaps but in daily use certainly.

Nice thing about SL cameras is the ability to focus Manually and then seeing a Green Box Notifying that it is ready to take a sharp picture. Cheers!

Fotasy, Pholsy, etc. are great adapters that I use between Nikon and Leica M and L mounts. Lots of Fun using lenses on different cameras. Cheers!

You're leaving out the Nikon 4 that was the 1 before ... Counterbalanced shutter release , Carbon fiber shutter blades .. which Nikon left out of the Nikon 5 , 6 ... you can buy the Nikon F75 which is the same camera as a Nikon F5 but in a plastic body ...

My first DSLR I bought in 2010 from my pro photographer friend. It's taken fantastic photos then and now. The IQ on a 6mpx camera using crop is amazing.

Hey Carmine! Just got a D200 and battery pack from MPB today. The camera has a cracked top screen with some LCD damage and the battery pack was listed as "one of the battery latches wouldn't hold the battery in". Camera has 28K actuations. I got the camera for $44.00 and the battery pack for $14! With tax I'm in it for $61.00! I put a piece of packaging tape on the LCD cover and the battery stays in when you latch the back closed! I didn't NEED another CCD camera, but for the price I figured I'd give it a try. I'll order one of the covers you installed in video, but for now I'm going to use it as is. The video will help when I make the repairs. :)

Out of all of the cameras I own I am enjoying the Nikon 1 J5 & V3. Small & portable and the Photos look fantastic. Don't mind the 2.7x Crop and Video good enough. V3 only has stabilization at HD 30fps and J5 HD 60fps. Cheers!

The selling point for the c8080 is the lens in my opinion. It was made to the same standard as their Zuiko lenses at the time, and it is awesome. I've hade mine for a couple of years, and it is a great hybrid camera. I especially like the placement of the shutter button facing forwards. You can even create some beautiful macro shots with wonderful vibrant colors. Quite a gem among aging digicams.

Dear Carmine, I really enjoy your videos! One question on the C-8080 because I was thinking about buying this camera for a special purpose: would you consider this camera to be good in low light and difficult light conditions? I was wondering if I could take this camera on some music festivals, as those festivals often do not allow cameras with exchangable lenses for private visitors. Looking forward to your judgement.

Had this camera twice Carmine! Loved the output but didn't realy like the ergonomics. In now have one of it's biggest competitors of that time: the Canon Powershot Pro 1. I would love to see your review on that camera!!!

Thanks Carmine for this review. LOVED C-8080. The glass on it was amazing. Similarly the F1.8 C-5050 and C-4040. Early digitals with sharp lenses. I still have all three. Slow but great results.

You forgot to mention, on top of acquiring a smart media card, reader and AA batteries one also needs an incredible amount of patience with these oldies. The startup time is very slow. The lens retraction & extension is super slow. Other than that, this is a great little kit.

I have the D700 and recently acquired 58mm f1.4 F mount lens. Both are made in Japan and are fantastic. I'm considering the 85mm f1.4 F mount lens, also made in Japan.

I still run my original 300D/Rebel with a variety of lenses. I did try to use it today in a more demanding scenario and I did suffer with it's write-delay even to an ultra CF card. I've had my original 300D since 2004/2005. Thank you for your review, it is a breath of validating fresh air to my trying to keep using it. I simply enjoy the hobby and recreation of using it instead of resorting to the iphone camera LOL
